Undersheriff Richard D. Telford Memorial Award Fund Recognizes Dedicated Member of the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department
The family and friends of Rich Telford recently established the Undersheriff Richard D. Telford Memorial Award Fund in memory of the Undersheriff who passed away in September. In his 30 plus years working with the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department, he served as Deputy, Sergeant Communications Division, Lieutenant Patrol, Lieutenant Courts, Captain, and ending his career as the Undersheriff. He performed as Team Leader of the Fire Investigation team. Rich graduated from class 279 at the FBI National Academy, and was also a member of the New York State Sheriff's Association.
James Baker Memorial Scholarship Fund Keeps It Close To Home
The James Baker Memorial Scholarship Fund was established recently by Jessup Baker, the President of Jamestown Plastics and the third generation Baker at the helm of the 66 year-old family business. With his grandfather James' legacy defined by his hard-working perfectionism, his family of successors knew that their work was cut out for them and strived to follow in the man’s footsteps.
Whiffy Fund Is A Home Run For Youth Baseball Fans
The Whiffy Fund provides access to baseball games by offsetting the cost of tickets. It’s a partnership between the Tarp Skunks, the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation, and the Chautauqua Sports Hall of Fame.
Jeep Event Benefits Lakewood Volunteer Fire Department and Lakewood-Busti Canine Unit
In 2023, Michelle Turner sought to establish an endowment fund which would make a real difference–a difference that would be felt community wide. The Jeep Jam Fund was created, and already made its first award, providing financial support to the Lakewood Fire Department and the Lakewood Canine unit.

According to those who knew him well, Kennie was humble, thoughtful, and kind. He could often be found working on something for a friend, neighbor, or loved one. Upon his passing, his wife Suzanne visited the Foundation to explore options to remember Kennie by giving back to the community. After hearing about the impact that workforce development scholarships have, Suzanne knew that was the right fit.
Space Camp Scholarship Application Opens October 1st, 2024
The Chautauqua Region Community Foundation will begin accepting scholarship applications for Chautauqua County residents interested in taking a course at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Ala.
