A recent grant from the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation’s Karl Peterson Field of Interest Fund, helped launch Hillcrest Baptist Church’s Discovery Town program.
The former chapel on the corner of Newland Avenue and Hallock Street was transformed for use by children and youth of all ages. The upper level houses an area for worship services; a stage, complete with a wide-screen television; and sitting area for craft projects. Downstairs, the rooms were transformed into places one might see in a town, including a library, fire station, and flower garden. The goal of Discovery Town is to positively impact the lives of children in the community through Biblical teachings.
