Through an annual grant application, financial assistance from the Fund is made available to nonprofits, churches, municipalities and the Randolph school district. The 2024 grants were awarded to Grace Episcopal Church (office and children’s activities at the annual arts and crafts festival), the East Randolph Cemetery (tree removal), the Town of Randolph (AED units at Town Park), the Randolph Central School (support for their after-prom event), the Randolph Cemetery Association (landscaping the new waterline trenches), Randolph Free Library (updates for the new Junior/Young Adult Library area), the Randolph Regional EMS Corp. for (pediatric restraints), and the annual Ecumenical Vacation Bible School across four area partnering churches.

“The McLaughlin Family Fund continues to support a range of activities and needs across the Randolph community,” noted Liz Jones, Community Impact Officer at the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation.

“The impact in the community is supporting programs and activities for area youth, the purchase of equipment to assist first responders and ongoing maintenance needs for both cemeteries.”

The John Edward McLaughlin Family Fund was established in 2007 at the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation, and $150,000 has been awarded to the community since. Jones added, “This year funding requests once again exceeded the amount available to grant – actually coming in at double the amount available, so not all projects were able to be supported or supported in full. That signals the continued need in the community, and presents some urgency in growing the Fund to support more grantmaking in the future.”
