The 96th Highlanders Pipes and Drums recently awarded two local students its annual scholarship for music education.
Ericka Correa is a sophomore at Duquesne University. A Jamestown High School graduate, she was a member of the JHS marching band and pit orchestra, playing clarinet. She also served as librarian of the high school’s concert band.
Dylyn Stockhausen has been a member of the 96th Highlanders Pipe Band since 2014. She also is a member of the Jamestown Municipal Band and Infinity Big Band. A Jamestown High School graduate, Stockhausen is currently a junior at Edinboro University.
The 96th Highlanders Pipes and Drums Scholarship Fund is awarded annually to undergraduate or graduate students pursuing a degree in music. Students must be well-rounded, hard working and demonstrate good citizenship. Preference will be given to students who are, or have been, members of a bagpipe band.
On August 25 and 26, the 96th Highlanders will hold its 12th Annual Jamestown Regional Festival and “Gathering of the Clans” at Mayville Lakeside Park. For more information, their website, here.
