She is predeceased by her parents, Norman L. M. and Margaret H. Vinney; she is survived by her children: James L.M. (Debra) Sharpe of Jamestown, NY, and David S. Sharpe of Clemson, SC; and her grandchildren: Alexander and Evan Sharpe of Jamestown, NY.
After first retiring to Florida, Linda later moved to South Carolina in 2010 to be closer to her family.
She was born in Pittsburgh, Pa., later moving to Gates Mills, Ohio. Linda graduated from The Grier School in Tyrone, Pa. She then graduated from Allegheny College of Meadville, Pa., majoring in American History and minoring in Latin and Art.
She wasn’t happy unless she had some dirt under her nails from her gardens or one of her many projects ranging from macramé, knitting, genealogy, canoe racing or vexillology.
Linda was an active member of the community. She participated in many charitable pursuits including Creche, Habitat for Humanity, St. Susan’s Soup Kitchen, Bemus Point Fire Department and Chautauqua County Humane Society. She enjoyed the academic and charitable pursuits of the American Association of University Women in Jamestown and Greenville. She was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Chautauqua Lake Yacht Club and Moon Brook Country Club. She was an avid golfer in Bemus Point, Jamestown and Del Ray Dunes, Fla.
She was a dedicated ling time board member of the Home Owners Association of Rolling Green, Greenville. She enjoyed her multiple book clubs, the one associated with the American Association of University Women in particular. Lina was a passionate advocate for animals, dedicating much time to several charities including the Greenville Humane Society, Concerned Citizens for the Animals and Speak for the Animals.
A memorial service and celebration of her life will take place in Bemus Point, NY on the lake at a future date, followed by a celebration at the Bemus Point Fire Hall.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Bemus Point Volunteer Fire Department Scholarship Fund.
